Neptune and Saturn’s Conjunction
Saturn is currently at 19° Pisces, positioning itself for its future significant conjunction with Neptune on February 20, 2026, at 0° Aries. Although this might seem distant, the theme of endings and beginnings is already apparent in the transitions between Aries and Pisces leading up to this conjunction.
Key Dates and Transitions
- July 3, 2024: Final station of Neptune in Pisces.
- May 4 – September 6, 2024: Neptune remains in the final degree of Pisces, the last degree of the Zodiac. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is: “A MAJESTIC ROCK FORMATION RESEMBLING A FACE IS IDEALISED BY A BOY WHO TAKES IT AS HIS IDEAL OF GREATNESS AND AS HE GROWS UP, BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE IT.”
Rudhyar describes “Archetypalisation” as the keyword, emphasizing the power of imagination to lead us inward from the external form to the soul reality within, shaping us. This signifies powerful endings and new beginnings, urging us to nurture inspiring images and allow time for endings, possibly accompanied by grief and sorrow (Pisces), without rushing into the new (Aries).
With Neptune, there is a process of dissolving, melting, washing away, and purification, which follows its own timing. A quiet, meditative mood best serves this phase. As possible futures arise, it might be wise to both hold on tightly (Saturn) and let go lightly (Neptune) to avoid recreating the past instead of allowing the unknown future.
In 2025, around mid-year, both Neptune and Saturn enter Aries but soon retrograde back into Pisces before their exact conjunction in February 2026 at 0° 45′. This period allows for a long preparation before the new cycle solidifies.
Chiron’s Role
Chiron will experience its return in June 2027, coinciding with its discovery and announcement charts. Reflecting on past conjunctions, the last Saturn-Neptune conjunctions occurred in Capricorn in 1989 (March, June, November), with Chiron in Cancer, opposite these conjunctions.
Significant events in 1989 included the fall of the Berlin Wall and Nelson Mandela’s release from prison, symbolizing walls coming down and prison doors opening. These images could be mirrored in our current world, both outwardly and inwardly.
We might find personal and ancestral walls and prisons within ourselves, recognizing them as part of the soul’s journey or ancestral patterns needing healing. The upcoming Saturn-Neptune conjunction closes the cycle that began in 1989, marking a time of endings that prepare for the new.
