One of the most important things you can do as a parent or guardian is to understand your child. Since a child learns by watching you, the way you show love and compassion will usually be in direct proportion to the way you feel about yourself. A child, like an adult, has an individual nature and personality made up of strengths and weaknesses. If you observe closely, children will tell you a lot about themselves through their actions. In group situations, one child may take the lead, whereas another child will follow. Still another child may fight all the time, while another cries. Before they are molded into adults, children are basically free and innocent, giving us a truer picture of their nature. It’s no accident that you are where you are today because of some childhood experience. As a parent (see chapter on “Parenting”), the better you understand your children, and give them direction, the better off they’re likely to be as adults. By using Numerology, you may find helpful insights.
Knowing Your Child
Number 1 Child
A Number 1 child, born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th, is usually one of the leaders in the group. These children are basically forceful and determined, and like to have their own way. Because of their leadership potential, they should be encouraged to make decisions early. It also helps to develop the logical side of their mind. A 1 child is original in thought, independent, and direct with others. They like to win, to be “first”, or to head a group. Bring out their self-confidence, and teach them that anything can be accomplished with the right use of will. Anything new or different attracts them; however, for this reason they should be encouraged to finish what they start. Number 1 children generally grow up to be writers, lawyers, inventors, administrators, supervisors, or explorers. They also make friends easily with those born in February, April, and August, or dates that add up to 2, 4, 7, and 9.
Number 2 Child
A Number 2 child, born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th, is usually one of the followers in the group. The 2 child is shy, gentle, imaginative, and very sensitive to others and their surroundings. They can’t stand harshness or cruelty. They thrive on love, companionship, and personal closeness. In their early stages, 2 children may be crybabies, but if they’re nurtured with genuine love, warmth, and tenderness, they eventually come into their own. So try not to be too harsh or forceful with them. Number 2 children develop into psychics, artists, poets, dancers, food or health store owners, and computer and electronics experts. Their best friends tend to be born in the months of May, July, and October, or on dates that add up to a 1, 4, 6, or 7.
Number 3 Child
A Number 3 child, born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st or 30th, is also one of the leaders in the group. They are expressive, ambitious, and generally popular among their peers. The 3 child is usually known to be cheerful, quick to smile, and likes to be part of the crowd. Parents need to encourage them to be conscientious in their duties, but also instill the belief that they can rise as far as their imaginations can take them. Never discourage the 3 child, instead, help give them the confidence they’ll need to make it in this world. They grow into excellent artists and writers, entertainers, heads of enterprises, jewelers, pediatricians, veterinarians, and photographers. Many of their friends are born in the months of March, May, October, and December, as well as anyone with a birth date adding up to a 3, 6, or 9.
Number 4 Child
A Number 4 child, born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, or 31st, is best described as the different one in the group. At first, they may appear to be antisocial or rebellious since 4 children like to do things just opposite of others. If a group of kids want to go one way, the 4 child usually wants to go in the other direction. Their nature is slow and deliberate, cautions and methodical. They’re usually high-strung, and their feelings are easily bruised. They may go through periods or moods that will be hard to shake, doing things that are contrary and unconventional. Encourage the 4 child to have a more positive outlook on life. They grow to be successful as aviators, mathematicians, mechanics, reformers, radio/TV personalities, occultists, and inventors, etc. Their friends are likely to be born in the months of February, June, July, and August, or have birth dates adding up to 1, 2, 5, or 7.
Number 5 Child
Number 5 children, born on the 5th, 14th, or 23rd, are the fast learners in the group. Because of their mental gifts, they usually become the first to talk, read, and write. They make friends easily, and generally have more friends than most. The 5 child loves travel and being outdoors. Since they also love freedom and non commitment, they need to be taught to be responsible. They also like crowds and public activities. Number 5 children think quickly and can be impulsive; they should be encouraged to stick to one thing at a time before going on to the next. And because of their adaptability, encourage them to choose their friends and surroundings carefully. They grow up to be writers, communicators, scientists, business persons, entrepreneurs, racers, travel agents, sales and PR persons. Although 5 children get along with almost everyone, they’re especially drawn to those with birth dates adding up to a 5 or 6.
Number 6 Child
Number 6 children, born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th, are the charmers in the group. A 6 child often turns out to be a crowd pleaser or the teacher’s pet. They generally like beautiful things such as colors, music, paintings, and are athletically inclined. As they have a pleasing and magnetic personality, others often seek their advice. Encourage them to handle and accept duty and responsibility. Above all, a 6 child needs to be shown love, praise, affection, and appreciation. They possess a wonderful ability to “read “ people and often know intuitively how things are likely to turn out. They grow up to be social workers, politicians, singers and dancers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, and community leaders. Their friends are likely to have been born in the months of March, May, July, October, and December; this also includes those born on dates adding up to 6, 3, 2, and 9.
Number 7 Child
A Number 7 child, born on the 7th, 14th, or 25th, is the quiet, reserved one in the group. They appear to be loners, keeping to themselves, but it’s only because they’re shy. They’re more observant and analytical than other children – perhaps this is why they prefer their own company. They have strong personalities and an air of mystery. A 7 child is one of the first to read, and they express themselves through music, poetry, writing, and painting. Although they say very little, much is being seen and analyzed. They should be encouraged to express their inner feelings and emotions. Also encourage the 7 child to have a positive outlook on life and not to worry so much. As adults, 7 children make excellent researchers, investigators, mystics, accountants, religious officials, travelers, scientists, and analysts. Their friends are generally born in the month of February, March, May, July, and August or have birth dates that add up to 1, 2, 4, or 7.
Number 8 Child
The Number 8 child, born on the 8th, 17th, or 26th, is the serious-minded one in the group. They seem, from the beginning, to have an old person’s head on their shoulders. Because they mature faster than other children, this may explain their attraction to older people. The 8 child has an intense personality and a strong sense of purpose. Of all the children, the 8 child is the most misunderstood. If no effort is made to correct this, it could lead to serious problems when they reach adulthood. They should be encouraged to take an open, positive approach to life. This is very important as they seem to be affected by stressful circumstances more than anything else. They grow up to be authority figures, bankers, realtors, government officials, managers, corporate lawyers, and head of business. Their friends tend to be born in the months of January, February, July, and October, or dates that add up to 3, 4, 6, and 8.
Number 9 Child
The Number 9 child, born on the 9th, 18th, or 27th, is the fighter in the group. By nature they’re forceful, energetic, and want to take the lead in group situations. A 9 child may be known at times as the one with the hot temper, but actually they’re bold and courageous, and if provoked will fight. Unlike most children, you don’t have to worry about their self-confidence – they seem to have a good opinion of themselves instinctively. They should be encouraged to control their tempers, as well as impulsive actions and words. However, never discourage them, as it retards their leadership potential. Encourage 9 children to be the masters of their fate. They grow up to become military officers, construction workers, firefighters, media personalities, politicians, publishers, artists, surgeons, and machinists. Their friends are generally born in April, August, November, and December, or have a birth date adding up to 9, 3, 6, or 1.
In addition to looking at your child’s birth date, study his or her name as well. A Number or Numbers repeated many times in the child’s name could shift the interpretation. For instance, if your child is A Number 2, described as sensitive, emotional, and the crybaby in the group, but also has a lot of 9s the name, this will add courage, confidence, and a fighting spirit.
